Well, I just love seeing what the kids are doing in the classrooms these days! I had to comment first on a little boy in New Zealand who wrote a lovely narrative about an outing to the beach with his mother and brother. I told him that his writing and his blog looked great. I also reminded him of how lucky he was to be able to ride his bike to the beach instead of having to drive a long way.
Next, I commented on a young lady's blog who had just created her blog and I had to comment on her first post. I assured her she was doing an excellent job and that her and I were in the same boat as far as blogging. I reminded her that everyone has to start somewhere and that my blog has really helped me keep track of all of my progress, so she should try and use it for that purpose.
I commented on a young man in 6th grade who loved to race dirt bikes and play video games. His blog was really detailed. I was a little blown away, but seeing such a young person with this kind of knowledge just reminds me of how much work and practicing I have to do in order to be a teacher instead of a babysitter. I love comments for kids. I can't wait for this to be part of what I do for my students.
